Indigenous dreamtime stories
Aboriginal beliefs state that all life as it is today including humans, animals, plants, land are part of a 'vast unchanging network of relationships'. These are traces to the Great Spirit Ancestors of dreamtime. ‘Dreamtime’ continues as dreaming in the spiritual lives of Aboriginal people today. The dreamtime is the Aboriginal understanding of the world, of its creation and its great stories.
Dreamtime is the beginning of knowledge. From this came the laws of existence which must be observed in order to survive. Dreamtime stories are set beliefs which laid down the patterns of life for Aboriginal people. In 'dreamtime', an individual's entire ancestry exists as one. Dreamtime stories were passed down orally by ancestors which is continued today. They involve the stories of creation and the teaching methods for everyday life, especially within their environment.
